This past weekend I was invited to help celebrate the Sellers’ 50th wedding anniversary by shooting their family portraits at Wrightsville Beach. The entire family couldn’t have been easier to work with! The weather was perfect and we had a great time. Here are just a few from the session. The last one is awesome.

Okay these are a little late but I wanted to post them anyway. One of my favorite holidays besides Christmas and Easter is the 4th of July. When I was a kid my family would travel to the coastal town of Southport NC to visit with grandparents and cousins and go to the huge independence day celebration the town would put on. Southport still has the celebration and it’s as big as ever, although every year we would say, “the parade wasn’t quite as good as last year”. This year I decided to go down by myself and shoot just for myself. It’s nice to not have any pressure of getting people’s information or getting back to have the photos up before a deadline (maybe that’s why this post is so late). It was fun and I ended up with some cool shots but I don’t think the parade was quite as good as last year. : )
Not that anyone is asking but here’s a photo tip: If you want some good candid shots of parade things, always arrive a few hours before the parade begins and go to where the participants are lining up to begin the parade. Â Then when the parade starts, hang out a little while at the very beginning.

We have had a very busy couple of weeks! My sister and family have been in town to spend time with everyone before moving around the world for an extended stay in Japan (her husband is in the Air force). We tried to get the kids together as much as we could all while going to vacation bible school every night as well. We almost don’t know what to do with ourselves now that it’s all over but it was a ton of fun! My sister has become quite the photographer and we decided to take the kids to the cool little town of Coats for a quick photo session with the kids. Photographing kids is always interesting and when they are your own things get even more interesting with how they listen. At least they all have smiles. : ) Make sure you scroll all the way down to see how the session was cut short.

“If you’re a kid and you can hear me raise your hands.”

“If you’re a kid and you can hear me cross your arms.” …so Andrew puts one arm down and pats his head.

Now he’s got it.

…and now I’ve lost them. : )

While shooting at the red barn a dude walked over and said he put a dent in the side of our van. That’s when my session was cut short and I had to deal with this. It’s not that bad though, just an inconvenience. I’m very thankful that the guy who did it came and found me to let me know what happened. He was leaving a business across the street from where we parked and didn’t see the van while backing up. Thankfully it’s only the fender and hood.

I finally have some time to get up a new post! A couple of weeks ago I took a break from all of the wedding craziness to do a fun couples shoot with two really great people, Eric and Allison. I met Allison through my wife (they work together) and have had the opportunity to shoot some real estate marketing photos for her. Even though there was a major event going on in downtown Raleigh we still managed to get some great shots.

Before I got into photography full time I worked for two of the best pest control companies in the area, Wood Pest Control and Smith Exterminating. Yes, I can take your picture and kill your bugs too! Where am I going with all of this? Josh’s family owns those companies and he (and his new wife Katie) asked me to shoot their wedding. Despite the weather report it was a beautiful day and they had an awesome wedding/reception. Here are some of my favorites from the day.
A huge thanks to Courtney Navey for shooting with me. I posted a funny shot of him carrying all of the gear but make no mistake he did way more than that! Thanks man!
